About AmyMeet the Team at Your Story Matters Therapy Group
Amy J. Muell, LIMHP, CMSW
I have worked with many of clients — big and small — over the past 15 years, and every one of them has their own story to tell. Everyone’s story does matter.
I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska and a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Iowa with a Master of Social Work from the University of Nebraska Omaha. I have spent most of my career in the therapy field providing residential treatment for kids with mental health issues and working in the RSafe program.
The RSafe program focuses on children and adolescents who act out sexually or are survivors of sexual abuse. With early intervention, the likelihood to reoffend is low. During my nearly nine years as RSafe program supervisor at Lutheran Family Services, we were able to work with the juvenile justice system to assign children to the RSafe program instead of to detention or more costly residential programs.
I also have extensive experience helping families manage foster care. I have adopted kids from foster care, so I understand adoption issues on a personal level as well.
While I specialize in the area of sexual abuse, including working with adult survivors and caregivers, I work with people of all ages and backgrounds out of our Nebraska offices and remotely. I also see clients at our Des Moines satellite location at 1104 46th Street.
